What does the IT Club do?

The Eastern Mediterranean University IT Club is a student community that learns technology together and builds with it together. It operates within the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, and its door is open to students of every faculty.

Our mission

  1. Learn

Gain the essential skills that coursework leaves out through training, webinars and hands-on workshops.

  2. Connect

Meet alumni, industry professionals, academics and other clubs, and find teammates to build with.

  3. Build

Produce real work in competition teams, joint projects and on the Project Evening stage.

What we do

Project Evening

A conference where students present ideas, prototypes and products while the audience asks questions and offers constructive critique. It is organised together with the Fikir ve Münazara (Ideas and Debate) Club, three evenings each semester.

Training and webinars

Practical sessions starting from beginner level in software, artificial intelligence, data and cybersecurity.

Industry and alumni talks

Our alumni and industry professionals share their career paths and what the industry expects.

Competition teams

Forming, guiding and supporting teams that want to enter national and international competitions.

Joint projects with other clubs

Events and research that bring technology together with psychology, law, design, economics and health.

Social gatherings

Meet-and-greet and game nights where new members get to know the club and each other.

Each semester our goal is ten events: three social gatherings, three academic events, three Project Evenings and one workshop.

Who can join?

You do not need to study computing or know how to code to join. Technology is part of every profession today; from psychology to law and from design to economics, every field shares a question with technology.

Being our faculty’s club does not mean our events are only for computing students. We want to welcome every EMU student who is curious and wants to learn and build.

Why become a member?

Organising events, working in a team and building projects are concrete experiences you can talk about after graduation.

Cybersecurity Committee

The Cybersecurity Committee is the club’s committee focused on security; it runs events and training specific to the field. IT and cybersecurity events are planned and run together, not separately.

Frequently asked questions

What is Project Evening?

A conference event we organise together with the Fikir ve Münazara Kulübü (Ideas and Debate Club), offering a professional setting to listen to and discuss our fellow students’ ideas, projects and products together. Students who present gain awareness of where they are strong or still lacking, along with presentation skills. The event helps projects get introduced, be evaluated by the community and move forward with feedback. It provides a network for finding teammates. After review, projects that could bring success are guided towards competitions, and R&D work is supported with office space. Project Evening exists so that the valuable projects and ideas at our university can see the light of day.

Is the Cybersecurity Committee a separate club?

No. The Cybersecurity Committee works within the club as a committee focused on the field; we plan events together. Follow its announcements at @emuitsecurity.

I cannot code. Can I join?

Yes. Our training starts from beginner level, and most of our events need no technical background.

I study in another faculty. Can I attend?

Yes. The club is open to students of every faculty; our joint projects exist to bring different fields together.
