GitHub Game Off 2026

GitHub's month-long game jam held every November. Any language, engine or library is allowed; the game goes on itch.io and the source stays in a public GitHub repository. After submission, entrants vote on each other's games for overall, gameplay, graphics, audio, innovation and theme.

Who can take part?

Enter alone or as a team; you need a free GitHub account and a public repository holding the game's source code.

How to prepare

Turn the theme into a small playable prototype in the first week and freeze scope early. Spend the remaining weeks on audio, visuals and feel; prepare the itch.io page a day before the deadline.
